Welcome to South Forsyth Media and
Instructional Technology Center
South Forsyth High School's Media and IT Center is a 21st century, collaborative and engaging learning environment which enhances a challenging curriculum while promoting innovation, critical thinking, communication, digital citizenship and literacy skills needed for academic success and success in a global society.
The NETS-S (National Educational Technology Standards for Students) are something we hope to help each teacher help each student reach through their academic endeavors and success.
The SFHS Media Center's motto is
Read! Collect! Critically Think! Collaborate! Create!
As a school library media and instructional technology center, we naturally want to encourage students to read - read for pleasure and to increase their knowledge base. The collect part of our motto is used in the context of gathering (collecting) information. Our media and IT center thrives on collecting (researching) valid, accurate, and reliable information. Next, we want students to think critically about the information they collect before and during collaboration with others. Aligned with the 21st century skills, we acknowledge the importance of collaboration and encourage use of 21st tools and web 2.0 tools to communicate and collaborate with others in their academic endeavors. The final step of this global, 21st century process is to create a product that can be added to the web itself.
